FCET GUSAU PROVOST DISPELS RUMORS OF BANDITRY ATTACK

From Aliyu Buhari Gusau

The Provost,  Federal College of Education Technical, FCET Gusau, Dr, Umar Bello has  refuted the purported attack on the institution by bandits.

The Provost disclosed this in an interview  with The Truth newspaper in his office,  saying that  it was just a mere  rumour.

He narrated that,  the truth of  the situation  is that some unknown vigilante group embers were  passing by with their motor cycles very close to the fence of the college, and some people nearby the college presumed that they were bandits  trying to launch an  attack on students of the college.

As a result of this misperception, Dr. Umar said, the notion  stirred confusions and people nearby and students started  shouting, and loudly saying "bandits, bandits".

Dr, Umar Bello said normalcy is  back in the school,  calling on parents and guardians  to resend their children back to  school as the news on the falsified  bandits attack was just a rumour,

Dr, Umar Bello commended the state Governor, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawallen Maradun, State Commissioner of Police and Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps  for their prompt action on the matter immediately the rumour broke across.

As part of measures taken by the state government,  Governor Bello Muhammad who  was at the school minutes after spread of the rumour,  pledged to fence the premises of the college in order to make it more secure, while a police out post will be dedicated to the college,  Dr .Umar further noted.

He  expressed happiness for the concern shown by  the Gusau Emirate Council on the matter.

The Provost also thanked all  security operatives in the state for their efforts  toward the  incidence, described the relationship between the college and Security officials  as  cordial, calling on them to maintain the tempo
