ZMSG TO REVIVE OWN AILING FISHERIES UNIT____Agric, Commissioner

                     Zamfara State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, said it is set to revive the ailing fisheries department in order to fine tune its activities .

                     In a press statement issued by the ministry's PRO, Malan Bashir Abashiya,


said the revival of the department is part of the state government's move to improve on  food production and generate employment among youths in the state,

                The statement added that the  state Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Alh Ibrahim Jibo Magayaki  made the  news of the revival known while inspecting hatcheries and fish ponds  set up within the premises of the ministry at Samaru  area in Gusau the state capital,

              The statement further  explained that, reviving the department will improve the livelihood of the farmers especially women in Agriculture and youths, and at length, to access various  intervention programs.

It  added that, Zamfara has what it takes to be self reliant in food production state.

                   The commissioner pledged to  rehabilitate  the existing ponds and assured  additional ones to cater for their growing needs.

                  He also  commended the efforts of the fisheries department for managing the facilities despite limited financing and infrastructure.

                   Earlier Speaking , the Director of the fisheries department Alh  Aliyu Umar Kaura explaned that, the facilities were constructed in 2008,  and it is currently under utilise, but it serves as a point of reference for students on industrial attachment from various institutions of learning across the country. 

                  The statement also noted the Commissioner soliciting  for continues support and encouragement.
