The Nigerian Medical Association of Nigeria, Zamfara State Chapter has awarded the State Deputy Governor, Senator Hassan Muhammad Gusau, with a honour of award of excellent.
The honouring was formally pronounced at the occasion of the NMA's Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference held in Gusau the State Capital.
In his speech at the occasion, the State Deputy Governor Senator Hassan Muhammad Gusau and also special gues of honour of the occasion, expressed the State Government's appreciation for the contributions being rendered by the medical practitioners especially the medical doctors operating in the healthcare activities of the State.
Senator Hassan Muhammad Gusau Urged the participants and delegates to the conference that, the present administration of Governor Bello Matawalle is giving the top most priority attention duly required to health sector of the economy, particularly healthcare services delivery in the State, adding that, the government has embarked on a number of transformational projects to enhance the healthy living conditions of its people with special consideration for communities at the grassroot level.
According to him, "already, the State government has constructed one hundred and forty-seven healthcare centres and provided tricycle ambulances to each center".
He further said, construction of Shinkafi referral hospital as well as rehabilitation and renovation of Tsafe and Gummi General Hospitals are ongoing simultaneously, while the State Government has approved the recruitment of over 400 hundred health personnel including medical consultants and medical doctors of different areas of specialisation.
He added that, to fill the gaps in relevant manpower needed to man various sections, His Excellency Governor Bello Matawallen maradun gives blanket approval for continuous recruitment of health workers by the Hospital Services Management Board, sending qualified indigenes for medical studies at renowned tertiary institutions within the country and abroad.
The Jarman Gusau, thanked the Nigerian Medical Association for finding him worthy of the award. and wishing the outgoing executives of the NMA all the best in their future undertakings and the incoming ones a successful tenure in office.
Speaking earlier at the occasion, the outgoing Chairman Dr. Mannir Bature Tsafe said, their platform's honor of the meritorious award to the Deputy Governor at the highest level of the association's activity was based on his track records of decades long concern, support and contributions to health care services in the State.
Dr,Mannir Tsafe further described the personality of Senator Hassan Muhammad as philanthropist of the highest order who values healthy wellbeing of his people especially the poor and vulnerable.
The former NMA Chairman, explained that the decision was, therefore, a unanimous one, as all stakeholders were in support of his nomination which instantly got the nod of the stakeholders in affirmative, submitting their decision as based on merit beyond any reasonable doubt.
