Thirty four thousand vulnerable population to be covered under the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) in Zamfara state.


This was disclosed by  Zamfara State Governor,  Dr Bello Muhammad (Matawallen maradun) in his speech at the official flag-off, of the state contributory health care scheme in Talata mafara, Represented by his Deputy Senator Hassan Muhammad Gusau.

 


  

The state Governor said, "It is over two years now that I Commissioned the office complex of the State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency and I am happy to say that, the Scheme is envisaged as one of the successful reforms in the health sector with over 15,595 prospective enrollees in the Formal Sector of the Program".


The state Governor also described that, Zamfara State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency is to significantly reduce catastrophic Healthcare expenditure among the population of Zamfara State residents. Such will be feasible by ensuring adequate and sustainable funding that will be efficiently and equitably used to provide quality health services and ensure financial risk protection in access to health services for all the State residents, particularly the poor and the vulnerables. 


 He added that, Zamfara state Government has approved 1% to State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency as equity fund for the vulnerable groups and matching grant for the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund BHCPF and also to augment the risk pool of the Contributory Health Scheme.

  

He therefore said, All these are part of the government’s intervention towards setting up a sustainable healthcare delivery system that will drive the process of achieving Universal Health Coverage by ensuring all residents of Zamfara State have access to effective, quality and affordable health care services, the protection of families from the financial hardship of huge medical bills and ensure improvement of health facilities throughout the State.

     

He expreesed that, "Our vision is to achieve Universal Health Coverage for all residents of Zamfara where no one is left behind in accessing healthcare, hence we need to provide a credible and sustainable mechanism for pooling of resources to finance healthcare provisions under the Scheme". He added.

     

The matawallen maradun also affirmed that, "Implementation of the scheme is a herculean task, thus the smooth operation of ZAMCHEMA and the accomplishment of projected results will essentially depend on the commitment of the Government, this Administration will not relent in its efforts in ensuring that the good people of Zamfara State have access to quality health care services".
