ZMSG DIRECTS BREAST FEEDING BE INCORPORATED INTO SECONDARY EDUCATION CURRICULUM

     Zamfara state government has directed  critical stakeholders in the health sector of the state to swiftly liaise with the state Ministry of Education and evolve way of adjoining  breastfeeding in the school curriculums at secondary school  level which shall be gazetted to state owned  tertiary institutions.

   The state Deputy Governor, Senator Hassan Muhammad Gusau gave the directives while flagging  off of 2022 World Breast feeding Week held  in the state.

    The Deputy Governor said, the move would help girls child  be kept aware of the importance of breast feeding which can help a lot when they eventually become  nursing mothers in their marital life.

     


Senator Hassan Muhammad Gusau acknowledged the vital roles of International bodies working towards the actualization of health care service delivery around the globe,  particularly the breastfeeding program as an integral part of measures to guard  children against all health challenges at infancy.

    The Acting Governor further explained that,  Zamfara is among the global communities working towards achieving the target objective of rise in the rate of exclusive breastfeeding within the first six months from  childbirth to at least  50%  by the year 2025.

       He therefore, called on all political leaders, legislators, traditional rulers, Islamic scholars and members of the general public to embark on  intensive campaigns to create awareness on the huge benefit of breastfeeding.

    Jarman Gusau, while thanking International Partners such as WHO, UNICEF and Save the Children, assured people in the State that the state government under Governor Bello Matawallen Maradun is fully committed to the actualization of the program , assuring of quality healthcare service delivery to all citizens of the State.

     He added that the present administration is up and doing in remitting its counterpart funds for all health-care programmes, adding that 'we will continue to provide the required funding and logistics to ensure the success of all routine immunisation and vaccination exercises as at when due to all our children'.

     The occasion was attended by the Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe, State Head of Service Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad Gayari, members of the State House of Assembly,  Commissioners of Information, Health and  Budget and Economic Planning, as well  as Special Advisers, Permanent Secretaries, Directors General, among others.
