FAAC Sub committee holds workshop on IPSAS implementation in Kaduna

The federal account allocation committee (FACC), sub committee on international public sector accounting standard (IPSAS) implementation in Nigeria, have organised a three days nation wide training and capacity building programme, for public financial management operator's in the the tiers of government.
The capacity building programme captioned "continuous capacity building on IPSAS implementation" for financial management operator's across the country, with special focus on the third tier of government, which is recently held at Asaa Pyramid hotel Kaduna.
In his opening remarked the director overseeing office of the accountant general of the federation and the chairman FAAC sub committee on IPSAS implementation in Nigeria, Mr Sylva Okolieaboh,
Explained that "the theme of the programme shows that the sub committee continues to demonstrate commitment to its promised o training and retraining finance operator's to improve their competencies and skills in the preparation and presentation of IPSAS accrual accounting compliant General Purpose Financial Statements (GPFS).
The director however noted that, " the federal executive council (FEC) on 28 of July 2010 took the decision to adopt and implement the provisions of IPSAS by public sector entities (PSE) in Nigeria".
And the subsequent setting up of the sub committee by FAAC to provide a road map to guide the implementation at the federal level, state and local government Area council levels.
He added that "the capacity building programme has been carefully packaged to address key and contemporary issues on both effective migration strategies for entities on IPSAS Cash basis of accounting and practical approach to the preparation of GPFS.
In his addressed the Kaduna state commissioner of finance Alhaji Bashir Saidu ,who is ably representing the state governor Malam Nasir Ahmad El-rufai, said " the state government had been taking the training as very serious issue that's why it's provide two percent of the statutory allocation budget for all the ministry and government parastatals is applied to training for all the civil servants of the state and local government levels.
"Since the coming of this government accountability are the major priority for which commemorated in rule of laws and predures putting in place these include; the fiscal responsibility acts,the tax consolidation law and public procurement".
Earlier in her welcome addressed the Kaduna state accountant general, Mrs Shizzer Nasara Bada said" I'm happy that Kaduna state have done the exceptional doing well for scoring the number one in terms of accountability and transparency.
She also urged the participants to concentrate and listen attemptebly for the lecture, adding that "is a serious business for the future you need to learned when learns then pasted that level and the skills to next generation".
