Insecurity: Zamfara hospitals surfer brain drain - Doctor call rescue

The Zamfara State Healthcare System have currently meet with challenge of brain drain due to the heinous activities of bandits and other criminals in the state.
Dr. Aminu Abdullahi of Federal Medical Center (FMC) Gusau made the revelation in a presentation tittle "Internal Brain drain Prons and Cons in Security Challenge state,
The presentation was made at the Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference organised by the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) FMC Gusau Chapter, held in Gusau.
Abdullahi added that currently the Zamfara healthcare system was manage by 260 medical doctors, insignificant to the handle the health issues of about 5million population in the state.
“And impacts most of these doctors were in Gusau largely working with FMC Gusau”
“In addition to security challenge, unfavorable working condition, poor salary, other personnel welfare, and environmental disaster”
He said there is need for all hands to be on deck to restore normalcy in the state, government should commit in the restoration of internship and residency programs at state tertiary hospital.
“There is also need for oversea training of doctors, workshops and conferences to motivate and enhance their capacity”
While urging the philanthropist to support the health facilities in the state with the equipments for research and investigation, he called on state government to emulate policies and programs of other state with similar issues such as Katsina, Borno and Yobe States.
Declaring the conference open the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Gusau Dr. Bello Kwatarkwashi congratulate the resident doctors for this important milestone of Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference.
Kwatarkwashi who was represented by the Head of Clinical, Umar Abdullahi said the theme of the conference "Enhancing the performance of Medical profession in a security challenge state" is timely.
" I want encourage you to remain hardworking and professional in handling patients in all circumstances it Gods will reward you." He said.
He said hospital management would continued in it way to give you the necessary good working environment.
The Chief Medical Director Yariman Bakura General Hospital, Dr. Aminu Nahuce commeded the conduct of resident doctors despite election they were about to hold.
He urged them not be distracted by challenges, rather should be more determine to come up with innovation address current health issues in the state.
The President of Resident Doctors FMC Gusau Chapter, Dr. Ibrahim Dauran said the annual event had started with medical outreach were a total of 1766 patients from less privileges were effectively manage,
"We also carryout public enlightenment through the Mosques and Churches on health challenges and possible ways of managing them.
While commending government and management of the FMC Gusau for the overwhelming support, he called on them to see ways of tackling brain drain affecting state healthcare system.
