Kaduna peace commission holds stakeholders engagement on election violence

The Kaduna state peace commission in collaboration with community initiative to promote peace (CIPP) have organised a stakeholders engagement workshop on conflict sensitivity approaches for the prevention of election related violence.
The stakeholders engagement workshop is on partner with USAID and MERCY CORP'S held at Butterfly hotel Kaduna.
In his opened addressed the executive vice chairman of Kaduna state peace commission, Dr Saleh B. Momale, explained that "the essence of this gathering is to review the ongoing campaigns and identify issues and challenges that have the potentials of threatening peaceful and harmonious coexistence.
" the electioneering campaigns and the period following the announcement of election result have been marred by violence orchestrated by those felt dissatisfied with the outcome of the election,it's expected that the resolutions from the meeting will contribute in guiding the intervention by the various peace building agencies".
He however noted that "today deliberation will constitute the committee in monitoring campaign and election, campaign rallies, media statement, social media posting and other publicity items released by contestants and make sure that such statements are not inciting, proactive.
While interviewed with newsmen's the executive director interfaith, Reverend Dr James Obel Oweh, described the gathering as timely and important and remedy to polticians before engage in; hate speech, dangerous speech, sendout the thugs in to the community to attack their fellow contestants.
Also speaking at the event, the Dangaladiman Wazirin Zazzau the district head of Gabasawa Alhaji Shitu Ibrahim Dikko,tasked the politician and the election official to conduct free and fair election.
