The Wife of Zamfara state Governor Hajiya Huriya Dauda Lawal has lead groups of women to Gusau Emir's palace, Campaigning against sickle cell anaemia disease in the state.

In a statement issued  by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication, office of the wife of the Governor, Zara'u Musa available to the truth newspaper in Gusau, said the day was set aside to mark world sickle cell.

According to the statement, her Excellency joined in the celebration as the world observed day, “This is  to raise awareness  about the dangers associated with the disease”

Wife of the Governor was represented by the Commissioner for Women, Children and Social Development hajiya Nafisa Muhammed.

”Governor Dauda Lawal is committed  to the well being of  women and children in the areas of Healthcare delivery, Education and Empowerment among others” huriya said.

Hajiya huriya encouraged people  to carry out test so as to know their Genotype before getting marriage. 

Responding Emir of Gusau Dr, ibrahim bello Welcome the representative of the wife of the Governor, commended her  'foresight' on the laudable programme and urged for more awareness and campaigns to save lives from sickle cell anaemia disease. 

“At the end of the awareness, sixty patients suffering from sickle cell anaemia smile away with ten thousand naira each, courtesy from wife of the Governor as well as counseling and testing of people to know their status”.
