An 8-man committee set up by Zamfara State government to compile comprehensive report on history and progress of Shariah legal system in the state has submitted its report.
Submitting the report to state Commissioner for Religious Affairs, the chairman of the committee, Sheikh Kabir Umar Maru, said it took the committee a complete one month to compile the report.
He stated the report is made up of five chapters and 275 pages detailing issues pertaining to the initial struggle for launch of the Shariah legal system, implementation and progress so far in the state.
Sheikh Maru advised the state government to wide spread the report for future use, and commended both the Star Commissioner for Religious Affairs and the Permanent Secretary of the ministry for their wise decision to compile matters concerning history, implementation and progress of Islamic legal system in the state through the committee.
Receiving the report in his office in Gusau, the state Commissioner for religious Affairs, Malam Suleiman Adamu Gummi commended the committee for what he described as a well done job.
He said the state government through the ministry came up up with the decision to make comprehensive compilation of maters concerning history and development of Islamic legal system in the state in order to make records straight for future generation, for research and with the intention to put it on the Google as a global archive on the net.
The commissioner assured to present the report to the state Governor, Dr Dauda Lawal for necessary steps.
In his vote of thanks , the Permanent Secretary, state Ministry for Religious Affairs. Malam Bashir Surajo lauded the efforts of the committee for the compilation of maters and issues surrounding history and development of Islamic legal system in the state, which he said, was not an easy task and is worthy of commendation.
The 8-man membership included Malam Kabir Umar Maru as chairman, Malam Sani Hamza Kaura, Malam Hadi Suleiman, Malam Sambo Sani Gummi, Malam Aliyu Rufai Gusau and Malam Lawal Salisu as members respectively, while Malam Ibrahim Musa Jangrbe and malan Nura na uku served as Secretary of the committee.
