Zamfara Grand Khadi Swears In 15 New Sharia Court Judges, Tasks Them To Be Steadfast

Zamfara State Grand Khadi, Dr. Dahiru Muhammad has sworn in 15 new Sharia Cour Judges recently appointed by the state government.

The swearing ceremony, along with a 4-day seminar,  for shariah judges, was held at the Sharia Court of appeal complex in Gusau, the state capital.

In his remarks during the occasion, Grand Khadi Dahiru  commended  the state government for its efforts towards development òf Sharia legal system in the state..

Dr, Dahiru Muhammad said the essence of the seminar was to refresh memories of Sharia court judges and update their knowledge for better service delivery.

He called on the participants of the seminar to translate the knowledge they gained into practice.

Grand Khadi  Dahiru urged the state government to provide official vehicles to the remaining 36 Sharia Judges in the state who did not get when their colleagues were presented with theirs two years ago by the state government.

Dr, Dahiru Muhammad charged the new Judges to justify their appointments and confidence reposed, urging  them to abide by  the rules and regulations governing the Sharia legal system.

Similarly, Dr, Dahiru further lauded the  state Governor, Dr. Dauda for paying  three years' allowances to Sharia court judges in the state with assurance that another one year allowances will be paid to them.

He cautioned Sharia court judges to limite time taken in court to put off complaints and cases of suspects.


In her speech at the occasion, the state  Chief Judge, represented by Justice  Bello Muhammad Shinkafi,  called on judges to justify the confidence reposed  in them.

He commended the State Governor Dr, Dauda Lawal for his efforts to revive Sharia  legal system in the state.

In his remarks,  the State Governor,  Dr, Dauda Lawal, said  the appointment of the 15 new additional Sharia court  judges was part of his administration's desire to boost Sharia, and to reduce the time taken by  Shaia judges to determine  cases befòre the the courts.


“I promise not to intervene in any Sharia in the state, and I will be providing  all the allowances to judges”  Governor Dauda Lawal assured.
