Zamfara State Governor Dr, Dauda lawal has charges the Social media users to avoid spreading or pass fake stories/news in the state.

Governor Dr, Dauda Lawal made the charges in a 34th edition of the Nigerian Army Social Media Seminar held at the Command Guest House Gusau.

Governor who was represented by the Commissioner of Youth and sports development, Hon. Tasi'u Musa Shinkafi, said that, fake news/story is a pervasive issue that undermines the credibility of legitimate news sources and distorts public perception.

“It can have terrible consequences for national security by spreading false information that cab lead to unrest and conflict” he added.

“As Consumers and disseminators of information, we must be vigilant in identifying and combating fake news” he said.

He noted that, several steps can take to mitigate the spread of fake news, include Verifying sources, fact checking, critical thinking, among others.

“As a social media influencers, Bloggers, and media Practioners, they have a unique responsibility to ensure that the information they share is accurate and constructive, adding the platforms can be powerful tools in promoting unity, educating the public, and countering the spread of harmful content”

In his remarks, Major General, S. dahiru expressed happinessed over the important personalities that honouring invitation to attend the seminar.

S. Dahiru Commended the participants for their turnout, called on them to maintain the tempo, urged them to adhere what they learn during the seminar.
