BASIEC Confirms date for Local Government Councils Election in Bauchi

 Following earlier assurance by the Executive Governor of Bauchi state Senator Bala Mohammed of the willingness of his administration to conduct Local Government election in the State.

The Bauchi state independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC), has on Friday morning officially announced 10th August 2024 as the Local Government election day in Bauchi state.

The Executive Chairman of the (BASIEC) , Ahmed Makama unfolded this to Newsmen on Friday in his office along Ningi Kano Road.

According to Makama, " the state electoral laws provides 60 days notice before election day. And that is why the commission finds it necessary to invite and brief you journalists on the development so that you pass it across to all stakeholders".

While promising to provide level field ground to all Political parties, the Executive Chairman assured the commitments of the Commission to conduct free, fair and credible elections in the state to the administration of all parties.

The Chairman said that all relevant stakeholders would be invited to hold a meeting and be briefed on the forthcoming all important election.

He called on political parties and other stakeholders in the conduct of the election to start preparing so that they will have enough time to run their process for smooth conduct. 

Makama said that the Commission will rely on the voters register by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) stressing that, “BASIEC does not keep its own register of voters. 

The Chairman said that,”With this announcement, the process of selling of nomination forms has commenced and interested people are urged to come out to purchase the forms. 

He reminded and re-emphasized to the politicians that open campaigns have not started until 30 days to the date of the elections as stipulated in the law.

Provost Federal College of Education Technical (FCET) Gusau, Dr. (Mrs) Onazi B. Oluwatoyin and her management team.
