The Zamfara state Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Sani Mustapha has enjoined all officers and men of the Corps to get aquinted with the newly Gazetted State Administration of Criminal justice Laws 2024 to be able to function effectively and efficaciously in the prosecution of cases.
This was contained in a press released signed by the spokesperson of the command Ikor Oche SC issued to the truth newspapers in Gusau the state capital.
According to the press released, Commandant Sani Mustapha made the charge when the Director for Public Prosecution DPP in the state Ministry of Justice, Barr. Abdul Ahmad gave a breakdown of the new laws of the State and the Penal Code to the officers and men of the Corps in a one day seminar organised by the State Commandant.
Commandant Sani Mustapha said that, his goal is to ensure that the Corps in the State handles and prosecute cases perfectly in line with the State ACJL which now empowers the prosecution of all offenders in Magistrate courts.
The DPP, Bar Abdul Ahmed said that, with the Gazetting of this laws in the Month of February 2024, the hitherto law 7 of the 2002 which limits the powers of the Corps in the prosecution of some persons has been abolished.
He therefore urged the Corps to always do the needful in ensuring a smooth prosecution process as empowered by the 2003 Act and as amended in 2007of the Corps, in line with the new Penal Code laws and the Administration of Criminal justice laws of the State.
