Gov. Bala bankrolls #42m to sponsor five Endigines to represent Nigeria at Bilateral School Debate Championship in Malaysia

The Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed, has bankrolled over N42 million to support the state contingent that will represent Nigeria at the Nigeria-Malaysia Bilateral School Debate Championship.

The prestigious event is expected to commence from July 15 to 21, 2024, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This gesture of governor Bala Mohammed, is a demonstration of display of dedication to education and youth empowerment.

The Chairman of the National Advisory Board of President’s School Debate Nigeria, Alh.Usman Muhammad, announced that Bauchi State’s representatives earned this honour after over showdowing Ogun State in a keenly contested final held in Abuja.

According to him, “This victory explains the exceptional talent and dedication exhibited by Bauchi’s students.”

Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board informed that Governor Bala Mohammed, also in appreciation to their outstanding performance,  granted the five winners of the championship free scholarship up to University level.    

This generous initiative reflects the administration’s unwavering commitment to rewarding and nurturing outstanding academic achievements among the youth of Bauchi State.

Governor Bala Muhammàd urged the Nigerian contingent to strive for excellence and bring home laurels for the country.

He appealed to the Federal Government to assume responsibility for sponsoring students who qualify at the national level for inter-school debate championships, as they represent the nation on the global stage.

He also commended the efforts of President’s School Debate Nigeria and its collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education under the patronage of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, in organizing such impactful events.

According to Bauchi State Ministry of Education, “We extend our heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammàd for his extraordinary support and investment in the youth of Bauchi State. Adding that his efforts are beacon of hope and progress for the entire nation.”

A statement by the Information Officer of the State Ministry of Education, Jalaludeen Usman stated that selected members of the delegation have Intensified training and other presentations for the championship.

Their participation in the Nigeria-Malaysia Bilateral International Debate Championship not only showcases the academic prowess of Bauchi’s students but also serves as an inspiration to all Nigerian youth.

Jalaludeen unfolded that the State delagation which is under the leadership of the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Alhaji Adamu Duguri, also consist of five debaters, one coach, one judge, one observer, and one matron.
