A well known Nigerian International Business tacurm and Philanthrophist, Abdulsamad Rabiu, has kicked off the construction of a 30 bed capacity ultra modern Reference hospital in Nigeria Custom Zonal Headquarters in Bauchi.
The project is under the Abdulsamad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) as the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Abdulsamad who was represented at the groundbreaking ceremony to commence the project on Monday 8th July, 2024 at the premises of the Nigeria Custom Zonal Headquarters Bauchi, by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of ASR Initiative for Africa Dr. Ubon Udoh said that the state-of-the-art medical project in Bauchi State is valued at 500 million Naira.
Dr. Udoh said that ASR Africa has engaged with all the beneficiaries of the project and that the Initiative is on track to ensure full implementation of all projects selected by the armed forces and security agencies.
The CEO unfolded that other beneficiaries of ASR Africa Initiative include the Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service, Department of Secret Services (DSS), Nigeria Police, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Nigerian Correctional Service.
He also confirmed that such projects are being carried out under the security support grants component of the ASR Africa Initiative inline with the needs of the security entities across the country.
Dr. Ubon thanked the leadership of the Nigerian Customs Service for partnering with ASR Africa on the health facility project.
In his keynote address, the Comptroller General (CG) of the Nigerian Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi (MFR) expressed appreciation to the Chairman of ASR Africa for the grant awarded to the agency.
He mentioned that this gesture is worthy of mention and Commendation as it is the first of such a huge donation to the Nigeria Customs Service from any organization.
He explained that on assumption of Office as the CG, he deemed it fit to continue the project as welfare of the agency’s personnel is his priority.
He promised that the Nigerian Customs Service is committed to ensuring adequate deployment of medical personnel for the effective use of the facility when completed.
"Upon Completion of this hospital it will stand as a symbol of progress and hope, significantly improving health outcome not only to the personnel of Nigeria Customs Service and their families but also the Community of Yalwa surrounding Communities". He assured.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Zonal Coordinator ACG A. Abdulazeez Commended the esteem visionary leadership of the Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for his Policy trust of Consolidation, Collaboration and innovations that attracted alot of landmark Projects to the service.
He said the hospital project commencement ceremony today is a clear demonstration of commitment by Abdul-samad to (ARS) initiative for African to good Corporate Social responsibilities that need to be Commended by well meaning Nigerians for his great initiative.
Emphasizing the benefits of the Reference Hospital facilities to Officers and Men of Nigeria Customs Service and the neiboring Communities.
