In continuation of the ongoing reintroduced Ministerial Press Briefing in Bauchi, the Hon. Commissioner Ministry of Culture and Tourism Abdul Hassan, has said that the delineation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism from Ministry of information by Governor Bala Mohammed's administration on assumption of office in 2019 was airmed at effective and efficient service delivery and good governance.

The commissioner stated this while showcasing his Ministry's score cards under the dynamic leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed to journalists from 2019 to date at the Auditorium of Abubakar Umar State Secretariat complex Bauchi.

He explained that the Ministry of Culture and Tourism is a government agency vested with the responsibility of Preservation, Promotion and development of Bauchi State rich cultural heritage and Tourism industry. Adding that the Ministry is committed to this administration's resolve in showcasing the state diverse cultural expressions, natural beauty and historical landmarks to nation and to the whole World,while fostering indigenous identity and economic growth.

Hon. Abdul Hassan pointed out that, the Culture and Tourism Ministry's vision under the present administration is to make Bauchi State a leading Culture and Tourism destination, contributing to State development and national understanding.That it mission is to enrich the lives of citizenry and visitors by preserving, Promoting and developing the state cultural heritage and Tourism industry.

The Commissioner unfolded that the Key Agencies and Units under the Ministry of culture and Tourism includes, Bauchi State Tourism Development Corporation, Yankari Game Reserve, Lame Burra Game Reserve, Sumu Wildlife Park, Maladumba Lake and Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Tomb. Others are Open Air theater and Bauchi State Museum.

X - Raying his Ministry's performance under the watchfull eyes of governor Bala Mohammed, the New Yankari - Bauchi Head Office Building Renovated in 2022, Building of New Rangers Barracks in Wikki Based Camp in 2021, Procurement of 2 brand new Land Cruiser game viewing vehicles, Modern patrol kits for the Rangers, refurbishment of toilet and changing room at Wikki Warm Spring and training of Rangers by Agro _ Climatic Resilience in Semi _ Arid Landscape in 2023, Renovation of Guest accommodation from 65 to 90 rooms in 2020 and Rehabilitation of Rangers Outpost, Anti-poaching Patrol tracks and Safari tracks 2020.

Other achievements are Staff Capacity building, training, and retraining of Rangers to an international operation ethical standard, Reconnection of National Grid to Yankari Game Reserve 2019, Yankari Game Reserve accredited by the UNISCO - MAB Program 2022, Maintenance of Yankari airstrip, Upgrade of the Museum of Natural History Exhibition and Artifacts, Renovation of the Corporate Villa A and B, Luxury Doubles apartment and Renovation of the main Conference Hall in Yankari Game Reserve among others.

The Sumu Wildlife Pack in Ganjuwa was also surveyed and re-fenced in December 2023 to improve protection of the Wild Animals from Poachers.

In 2021 the state participated in the National Festival of Arts and Culture ( NAFEST) at Ekiti State, where Bauchi State was awarded the best in digital Marketing of Arts, in 2022 following the approval of Governor Bala Mohammed, Bauchi State Cultural Contingents participated at the Lagos NAFEST and received an award as the Best in Synergy and Teamwork and also under the good leadership of the present administration Bauchi State Contingents participated in the 15th International Arts and Crafts ( INAC) EXPO 2022 held at Abuja and got Merit Award as the Best Leather Product Design Work.

The Bauchi State Ministry of Culture and Tourism under the good leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed during the year under review also added to it's score cards as the Best Exhibitor in Calabash Design and Decoration at 16th International Arts and Crafts (INAC) EXPO 2023 hosted at Abuja.

Other achievement of the present administration that makes the Ministry of Culture and Tourism lively and more purposeful to meet it's Mandate according to the Commissioner, include Governor Bala Mohammed's approval for the annual event of Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Memorial Day, which always comes up on the 15th day of January every year.
