Nigeria First Lady salutes resilience of petty traders in building local economy

Nigeria First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu saluted petty traders for their resilience in building and sustaining businesses despite challenges affecting the economy.
She said that they have shown incredible resilience in overcoming countless challenges facing their businesses.
Mrs. Tinubu made the assertion during an event to recapitalized 1000 women petty traders of Zamfara which held in Gusau on Thursday.
Tinubu, who was represent by the Zamfara Governor's Wife, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal told the 1000 women petty traders that were the beneficiaries that “You are the heart of our local economy, the foundation of our communities, and the unsung heroes of our nation.
"We are all aware of the challenges faced by Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), especially the petty traders, who form the backbone of our local economies.
"We celebrate your hard work and determination. Let us all continue to work together to build a Nigeria where every woman has the opportunity to succeed, where every small business can grow and contribute to our nation's prosperity.
"Through the Renewed Hope Initiative, Economic Empowerment Programme, we are providing 1,000 preselected women petty traders of the state with a grant of N50,000 each to recapitalize and grow their businesses."
The business grants provided was to assist women petty traders in overcoming some of their business challenges, expand their businesses, create more jobs, and improve nation's economy.
She said that economic empowerment remains the core objective of the Renewed Hope Initiative and had consistently delivered on this promise for both women and youths across the country.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Tourism, Alhaji Abdulrahaman Tunbido commend the Federal Government for the intervention and that the program is timely.
Tunbido said Zamfara was already grounded by insecurity thereby collapsing all sectors of live, "we must appreciate the gesture as it will go a long way in relieving our people."
He said this was inline with the state government's rescue mission of addressing poverty and other humanitarian crisis.
