Zamfara First Lady distributes fertilizer, cash to 80 women farmers

The Wife of Zamfara State Governor, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, has donated 80 bags of fertilizer and cash of N1,600,000 to 80 women farmers of Furfiri and Jauri communities of Gusau Local Government Area of the State.

The Governor’s Wife made the distribution on Thursday, organised by the Nigerian Association of Women in Agriculture (NAWIA) Zamfara State Chapter.

Hajiya Huriya said that, the gesture its part of the line up activities to celebrate World Food Day.

Huriyya Dauda narrated that, Each of the beneficiary received one bag of assorted fertilizer and N20,000 cash, the gesture main to boost their farming activities for food security.

She Charged the beneficiaries to be more committed to agribusiness a for increased food production in the state.

“I am ever ready to assist the farmers in the state, especially women in order for our state to continue to answer our slogan, ‘farming is our pride” Huriya noted.

“we are embarking on annual inter local government farm products carnival, the current socio-economic crisis could be reversed if farmers intensified efforts to produce more farm products”

She assured the association of the state government’s continued commitment to farmers in the state.

In her remarks, the NAWIA State Coordinator, Hajiya Shema’u Nalado, thanked the governor’s wife for her continued concern and support being rendered to the state chapter. “were now determined to take up agriculture activities from men, considering how they were committed to the farming business of all kinds”

Nalado appreciated NAWIA members for their contribution in feeding the nation, however, the association had observed how insecurity had posed great threat to food sufficiency nationwide.

She reassured  to join in the celebration of the United Nation’s declared Oct. 16, World Food Day in the state.

Provost Federal College of Education Technical (FCET) Gusau, Dr. (Mrs) Onazi B. Oluwatoyin and her management team.
