Cancer Institute builds capacity of Zamfara Doctors on Hepatitis

The National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment (NICRAT) in collaborated with Zamfara State Ministry of Health organise two day capacity building to medical Doctors on Hepatitis.

The capacity building workshop drown participant from the primary and secondary healthcare centers across the 14 local government areas of the state. 

The participants will undergo regrows training and introduce into new discoveries on Chronic Viral Hepatitis, Identification, Management  and Referral of Suspected Liver Cancer Cases.

Speaking at the workshop the Cancer Desk Officer Dr. Aminu Abdullahi said the training was designed to create awareness among state health community on the prevention of cancer within the society.

"Although we can not a certain the position of cancer in the state, but obviously the cases are increasing and required public Enlightenment” He said

He demonstrated state government readiness to partner any organisation in tackling health challenges affecting the state.

In his presentation the resource person and Chairman Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Dr. Ibrahim Jibiril said herbal medicine worsening cancer cases and called on people to avoid such medication.

Jibiril said people used to neglect cancer until become chronic were the tendency of survival was almost zero before approaching hospital.

He enjoined people to consult medical expert at the early stage of any health issue to prevent complication and in some cases mortality. 

"We must understand our health problem before medication, therefore our team medical personnel at the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Facilities  need to acquired the recent findings on Chronic Viral Hepatitis, Identification, Management  and Referral of Suspected Liver Cancer Cases. Jibiril added.

Also speaking the Lead team of the Workshop, Dr. Aminu Nahuce of Federa Medical Center Gusau, said Doctors should know their limits and refers their patients timely.

Once a doctor confirm a cases beyond his facility, he is by ethics required transfer the patient to the next higher hospital.

Nahuce said the main aimed of this training was to create awareness among health personnel of primary and secondary hospital for effective management of cancer in the state.
