Gusau Emir task partners on poverty reduction among HIV patients

The Emir of Gusau Alhaji Ibrahim Bello has called on partners to link advocacy with poverty reduction among patients with HIV to boost their immune system.

The Emir made the called while addressing the crowed of ground rally in commemoration of world HIV Day that visited his in place in Gusau on Sunday.

According to the monarch immune system had direct correlation with nutrition of every person, so to prevent HIV patients from growing further complication they be provided with livelihood that would make their immune stronger.

He said while making advocacy and sensitization the stakeholders should equally engages victims into various form of skills or make some provision to support their living.

Bello said with level of poverty and hunger among society advocacy along cannot yield positive result.   

The Truth Newspapers reports that the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Society for Family Health (SFH), State Aids Control Program (SAPC), Accelerating Control of the HIV and Epidemic (ACE) and Zamfara State Government organized the ground rally to commemorate the 2024 World HIV Day in the State.

In his remarks the UNFPA Coordinator Lawal Shehu said "we are before the emir to solicits for his support to canvass awareness among communities”

"I believe your words are more stronger and can reach people at every level of society.

"Therefore take advocacy through the Mosques and Churches to each and every starter of populace were covered and the target objectives are achieved within the expected period before 2030.

Also speaking the State Project Manager, Zamfara State Action for Control of Aids (SACA) Bashir Abubakar said state has started witnessing reduction in family regeneration of HIV.

He said within the period 3.5years the program no single HIV family that attend hospital give birth to child with the such virus.

"We have already capture 12,000 out of the 21,000 patients recorded in the state, our concern is the remaining 9,000 patients yet to link up with the program to prevent regeneration through  family.  

The truth also reports during the rally activities  free HIV test and counselling was offered to members of communities, food items were also distributed to victims.
