Bauchi Governor Kicks Off 2025 Livestock Vaccination Campaign

The Executive Governor of Bauchi State Senator Bala Mohammed, has kicked off livestock vaccination campaign targeting 1.5 Million animals across the twenty local government areas of the state.
The initiative, which includes the procurement of over ten thousand doses of rabies vaccines, is in response to recent cases of animal bites involving dogs and other animals in some parts of the state.
The inauguration of the 2025 Annual Livestock Vaccination Campaign which took place at Itas Gadau Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Moday 13th January, was aimed at promoting a healthy livestock population and encouraging livestock farming as a means of boosting the state's economy.
While launching the campaign, Governor Bala Mohammed, stated that Bauchi's status as a leading state in livestock population was as a of influx of Fulani cattle breeders from conflict-affected areas across the country.
In line with the Federal Government's policy, the governor announced the creation of the State Ministry of Livestock Development to enhance livestock management and animals welfare.
The Governor in his progressive manner also promised to construct one hundred dams along cattle routes to guarantee access to water and foster harmonious relationships between farmers and herders.
Speaking at the event, the state Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Alhaji Kabiru Yusuf Tilde and the Chairman of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Alhaji Muhammad Husaini Buzaye commended the governor for the initiative and urged livestock owners to take full advantage of the campaign by vaccinating their animals.
The leaders also called for inclusion of animal feed distribution exercise and sustained livestock vaccination programmes as part of the state government’s agricultural development initiative.
They also promised to work hand in hand with the Management of the newly created Ministry of Livestock Development to achieve the desired goals .
