NG- CARES disburses Over N1.3billiion to 8,000 Youth's, Women in Zamfara

Nigeria Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) disburse a total sum of N1,320,000,000.00 under livelihood Support Grants to 8,000 persons in Zamfara State.

The General Manager of Zamfara State Community and Social Development Agency Alhaji Umar Nakwada made the disclosure at the occasion of capacity building and training of the 8,000 beneficiaries that have been meticulously selected from the State Social Register.

"As you may be aware, it is the objective of the livelihood Support Grants to sustainably provide short livelihoods and soft skills training and one off payments N150,000 to economically active and self employed youth and women across the 14 LGAs in Zamfara State.

Nakwada said the program has prioritized household enterprises in the Informal sector the for targeted support, where 8,000 productive and agile youths who were engaged in various form of micron enterprise were selected.

According to him this will help to support the Government effort in scaling up social safety net services that provide consumption and livelihood support to the increasing numbers of poor and vulnerable people in the state.

The training on short soft skills/vocational training and empowerment was an important prerequisite and major milestone in the implementation of NG-CARES livelihood support grants.

"Today's training will cover the following thematic areas: -

Small and medium scale enterprises as a panacea for economic growth and development

Record keeping/accounting Formation of Cooperative societies

Preparation of laundry soap, shampoo and Izal

Preparation of spices and tea using natural herbs

Shoe and bags making

With the training the beneficiaries would be empower on necessary knowledge and skills to be able them improve their micro enterprise.

To reinforce and or update the capacities of the participants for them to form clusters and cooperative societies.

He then urged the esteemed participants to be attentive and actively participate in this learning process. Remember that in this world, we learn, unlearn and relearn the necessary knowledge and skills that will lead us to live a better life.

In his remarks the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning Abdulmalik Gajab called on participants to take the advantage with commitment to improve their leaving.

The Commissioner who was represented by AbdulRazak Moriki Officer NG-CARES State Coordinating Unit, urged the participants to form themselves into cooperative society to enable them benefit from the national and some global intervention.

He said state citizens missed so many economic intervention and opportunities that could help them boost their business through loan facilities directly from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) with less or free interest.
