SDGs: Zamfara establishes databank to gauge MDAs performance

The Zamfara government says it would establish a dashboard with accurate data to gauge performance of various sectors in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the State.
Special Adviser to Gov. Dauda Lawal on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Dr, Aliyu Adamu made the disclosure at stakeholders meeting to disseminate the 2023 performance tracking report in Gusau.
Adamu Said the review would also serve as a wake up, called on all stakeholders to fastract effort to achieve the targeted goals in the state.
He said the Dauda Lawal administration was committed to tackle the socioeconomic challenges of the state.
“What we are interested is accurate and genuine data that will guide our policies and programs in achieving the SDGs target in our communities”
“No doubt multidimensional poverty is still increasing and can be attributed insecurity and other disasters affecting the state”
“While taking measures of tackling the menace, the government will continue in funding poverty alleviation programmes,”he added.
According to him, the dashboard would contain accurate and reliable data available at all the times for development partners, donor agencies and government policy makers.
Adamu further said that the dashboard would be reviewed on quarterly bases for effective assessment of the performance indices in the state.
In their separate comments the State Coordinator Social Protection Platform, Nasiru Biyabiki, State Coordinator United Nation Population Fund (UNFPA), Lawal Shehu and Provost Zamfara College of Art and Sciences (ZACAS), Yakubu Yari commended the initiative.
They, however, urged government to sustain the effort to meet the SDGs target.
They said the development partners’ concern had always been accurate data that would guide them in developing their action plans.
The partners promised to continue to support MDAs in ensuring the desired developmentl targets were achieved. (NAN).
