President Zamfara state Chamber of Commerce, industry mines and Agriculture ( ZACCIMA ( Dr.) Hassan Buhari Tafida Maradun has said to fully benefit with African Continental Free Trade Area ( AfCFTA), we must equip ourselves with the right knowledge, streamline Trade procedures, and embrace digital Commerce.
The president speaking during the one day Sensitization Seminar organized by the Nigerian Export promotion Council ( NEPC) zamfara state office, in collaboration with the zamfara chamber of commerce, industry mines and Agriculture ZACCIMA held in Gusau.
( Dr). Hassan Buhari Tafida Maradun opening remarks at at the occasion said it with great pleasure that I wellcome you to this Sensitization Seminar on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), organized by the Nigerian Export promotion Council ( NEPC) Zamfara state coordinating office, in callabration with the Zamfara state Chamber of Commerce, industry, mines and Agriculture ZACCIMA.
He further stated that today we gather for a crucial conversation on trade, economic growth, and future of business in zamfara, Nigeria, and Africa at large. African Continental Free Trade Area AfCFTA is more than just a trade agreement - it is a bold step toward economic integration, industrialization, and prosperity across the continent.
He also revealed that with over 1.2 billion people and a combined GDP exceeding $3 trillion, AfCFTA is set to become the largest Free Trade in the world, offering new opportunities for business, entrepreneurs and investors.
Similarly, the president Zamfara chamber of commerce industry mines and Agriculture ZACCIMA Dr Hassan Buhari Tafida Maradun Said for us here in zamfara state, this Isa game- changer.Our traders, manufacturers, and artisans have long contributed to regional trade, particularly with Niger and Benin Republic through our Various boarder trade routes. However, to fully benefit from AfCFTA, we must equip ourselves with the right knowledge, streamline trade procedures and embrace digital Commerce.
Tafida Maradun also highlighted the aim of one day Sensitization Seminar is to create awareness of the numerous benefits and opportunities within AfCFTA, Simplify trade procedures to facilitate cross border transactions.
Also said the training workshop aims to highlight incentives and government support available for traders and businesses.
Added to encourage digital trade and e- e-commerce as a means to expand market reach.
In another development, during the Technical session by the state coordinator ( NEPC) zamfara state coordinator office, Gusau Yusuf Ismail Ahmed noted that the Nigerian Export promotion Council NEPC was established in 1976 by Virtue of Decree No; 26 of 1976 but was formally inaugurated in March 1977 The Decree establishing the council was amended by the NEPC Decree No. 71 of 1979 which introduced some Slight changes in the membership of the Governing Council and made provision for the establishment of the council's Secretariat.
He further stated that the Vision is to make the world a market place for Nigerian non-oil products. Added that the Mission statement to spread the derversification of the Nigerian Economic Growth Core Values integrity patriotism professionalism fairness Teamwork Customer Care.
Yusuf Ahmed Ismail also revealed that the Nigerian Export promotion Council NEPC one of the broad function is to organize and plan the participation of Nigeria in trade fairs and exhibitions; to administer grant and other benefits related to export promotion and development; and to undertakes Studies of the Current economic Conditions with Special attention to the export Sector with the aims of adversing government on necessary policies and measures; to plan and organize outward Trade mission and provide support from Nigeria to provide support from other Countries to perform such other functions as may be Conductive to the achievement of the objectives of the council.
