NYCN Collaborates with AGILE Zamfara to Launch Empowering Clubs in Secondary Schools

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), the apex umbrella body coordinating the affairs of youth clubs/ associations across Nigeria, has forged a strategic partnership with the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), Zamfara State Office, to establish AGILE Clubs across secondary schools in Zamfara State.

In a Press Statement  jointly Signed by the Chairman NYCN Comrade Nurudeen Salisu Maishinkapha, and Director of Gender and Girl Child Empowerment, Zainab Bashir, issued to the Journalists in Gusau the State Capital.

According to the Statement, the collaborative effort was formally announced on Friday,  revealed that NYCN played an instrumental role in the foundational planning meeting convened to establish these clubs. 

Statement Point out that, the meeting convened a diverse coalition of youth leaders, environmental advocates, school principals, and zonal education directors, underscoring a multi-stakeholder approach to youth engagement in the state.

“The forthcoming launch of the AGILE Clubs is poised to galvanize adolescent students as proactive agents of change, fostering robust advocacy platforms centered on critical social issues, including” Statement added.

“Amplifying girls’ school enrollment and retention  - Championing environmental stewardship through tree planting initiatives  - Elevating awareness and prevention of Gender-Based Violence (GBV)  - Promoting inclusive Second Chance Education programs”

The statement further highlighted the pivotal role of NYCN as a catalyst for youth mobilization and capacity-building in the successful deployment of this initiative.

“As part of the partnership framework, NYCN has been entrusted with a facilitation mandate to spearhead the club establishment within Talata Mafara and Anka Local Government Areas” 

“The official flag-off and orientation ceremonies are slated for Tuesday, 20th May 2025, at designated secondary schools across the educational zones, marking a significant milestone in youth-led advocacy and empowerment in Zamfara State”

“This alliance exemplifies a progressive stride toward harnessing youth activism to drive sustainable social transformation and gender equity in Nigeria’s educational landscape”
