Zamfara Govt. launches young farmers club in primary schools

The Federal Government have under the Renewed Hope Initiative of Nigeria First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tunibu introduce Young Farmers Club across the Primary Schools of Zamfara.

Speaking at an event to launch the program and distribute farming tools to primary schools which held in Gusau on Wednesday, the Wife Zamfara State Governor, Hajjiya Huriyya Lawal said the initiative was introduce to enable children from the younger age engage themselves into farming activities.

Lawal said each primary schools in the state were provided with a School farm with a Solar motorized borehole, Water pump machine, Wheelbarrow, Hoes and cutlasses.

With this arrangement children would be exposed to practical aspect of crops cultivation, and culture of farming can be inculcated into their mind.

"I believe if this policy succeed the challenge of food security would be eliminated from the state and country as whole.

"We are rebuilding hope and confidence of citizens in having better life with this policies and programs. If children can raise up with agriculture knowledge and skills right from primary school the issue of unemployment among youths would be eradicated.

In his remarks the Chairman Universal Education Board Zamfara State, Prof. Nasiru Anka appreciated the efforts of Federal Government to bring this initiative to the state.

Anka said the idea of introducing young farmers in Zamfara was a welcome development would boost food security, he assure constant effort to sustained the program.

He equally commend the Wife of Zamfara State Governor for taking their time implement the policy in the state.
