ZMSG Inaugurates Emergency Treatment Committee to boost healthcare

Zamfara State government has inaugurated State Emergency Medical Treatment Committee (SEMTC) as part of effort to improve community healthcare delivery.

Inaugurating the Committee in Gusau, The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Malan Bashir Surajo, Congratulated the committee with hope that they would deliver the mandate with all needed commitment.

Dr, Nafisa Muhammad Maradun explained that it was part of the state’s requirements to access the National Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance Systems (NEMSAS).

Dr, Nafisa Emphasised the state government’s efforts to meet the emergency needs of the communities  in far distance from medical centers.

Maradun urged the committee to look into the health emergences of the residents of the state, especially those in rural communities.

According to her the committee terms of reference include, coordination of medical emergency responses, accreditation of emergency centers and providing the centers with needed equipments,

It would also hold monthly meetings to review the health emergences in the state and present quarterly reports of the state health emergences to the Federal Ministry of Health.

In his remarks, the committee Chairman, Dr. Gambo Liman promised to sacrifice their time and wealth of experience in addressing the state health emergences effectively.

“I know the task is enormous but with the caliber of the committee members, I believe we will put the structure that will reach out to all nooks and crannies of the state as regards to health emergences”

“I am optimistic that the current leadership of Gov. Dauda Lawal is passionate about healthcare delivery, so with support of the government, no doubt we are going to succeeded,”Liman assured.

He thanked the state government and the health ministry for the opportunity accorded them to serve.
