ZMSG Inaugurates State Emergency Medical Treatment Committee

Zamfara Sate government has inaugurated State Emergency Medical Treatment Committee, (SEMTC).

Inauguration the Committee in Gusau, State Commissioner of Health Dr, Nafisa Maradun, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary Malan Bashir Surajo  said that,  the inaugration is  part State Government effort to improve community healthcare delivery.

Dr, Nafisa Maradun further said that, it was part of the state’s requirements to access the National Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance Systems (NEMSAS).

Maradun urged the committee Members to look into the health emergences of residents of the state, especially those in rural communities.

She emphasised the state government’s efforts to meet the emergency needs of the communities  in far distance from medical centers.

According to her the committee terms of reference include; coordination of medical emergency responses, accreditation of emergency centers.

FMC Gusau re-affirms Commitment towards upgrading to a teaching hospital

By Ibrahim Ahmad The Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Gusau on Tuesday , reaffirmed its commitment towards upgrading to a teaching hospital for enhanced service delivery. The Medical Director of the FMC Gusau, Dr Bello Mohammed made the re-affirmation during the inauguration of a medical  “Common room” constructed by the centre’ s branch of the Nigeria Association of Resident Doctors (NARD). In a Press Statement signed by the centre’ s Public Relation Officer, Dr. Naziru Tukur and made available to newsmen, said modalities have been put in place to ensure the actualisation of the upgrade. “The Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) currently offers five accredited medical programmes, with students already in 200 level” “The centre’s management has intensified efforts in providing critical infrastructure for teaching and learning at the facility,” the statement read.
