Charity day: Zamfara First Lady distributes food items to elderly women

The First Lady of Zamfara State, Her Excellency Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal in collaboration with the Northern Governors’ Wives Forum distribute food items to elderly women to marked the 2025 International Charity day in Zamfara State.

A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the First Lady on Media and Press Affairs, Hajiya Rabi Yusuf issued to newsmen in Gusau said the outreach held in Gusau on Friday targeted the elderly and less privileged families with the Food items to include; bags of rice, cartons of spaghetti, sugar, vegetable oil and some cash.

Yusuf said the First Lady represented by the Senior Special Assistant on Women Mobilization Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar (Hadiza Mai H), said that the donation was aimed at providing relief and sustenance to those most needed.

“Charity is more than giving, it is about restoring dignity, strengthening community ties, and showing that no one is forgotten. In a world full of challenges, our generosity must move faster to reach those who need it most".

According to her the First Lady reaffirmed her commitment to supporting marginalized groups through consistent and impactiful interventions. 

Stressing that true charity is rooted in empathy, compassion and continuity. 

Beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude, describing the intervention as both timely and reassuring.

The collaboration between the Northern Governors’ Wives Forum and the First Lady Initiative demonstrates the power of collective action in uplifting vulnerable populations.

The First Lady also commended the Forum’s dedication to strengthening humanitarian support across the northern region.

The annually Sept. 5th International Day of Charity celebrated for 2025 with the theme "Speeding Global Generosity and Strengthening Community Support,” has underscores the global importance of philanthropy in reducing poverty, fostering social solidarity, and building inclusive communities.

The outreach reflects the believed that compassion, when matched with purposeful action, can transform lives and strengthen society.
