ZMSG Constitutes Committee for Assessment, Support to Victims of Banditry

The Zamfara State Government has constituted a Standing Committee for the assessment and support of victims of banditry across the state.
The Committee is chaired by the Deputy Governor, Mani Malam Mummuni (Masamar Mudi), the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bilyaminu Isma’il Moriki, serving as Vice Chairman.
Other members of the Committee include, The Honourable Commissioners for Security and Home Affairs, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Humanitarian and Disaster Management, Housing and Town Planning, His Royal Highness, the Emir of Anka, Alhaji Attahiru Ahmad Mohammad.
Others are, The Honourable Commissioners for Health and Information, The Special Adviser on Security, Executive Secretary ZEMA, CSO Government House, DCSO Government House, Chief Detail Office of the Deputy Governor.
The rest are, Chairman State Council of Ulama, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Security, Yazidu Attahiru, and the Director of Administration Office of the Deputy Governor, Dahiru Sani Gusau, will serve as Secretary and Assistant Secretary to the Committee respectively.
The Committee is mandated to Provide immediate interventions and condolences to victims of banditry within forty-eight (48) hours of any incident. Conduct detailed field assessments of affected areas to determine the scale and nature of damages.
Also the Committee assess the number of victims, including lives lost, displaced persons, and properties destroyed such as infrastructure, farmlands, and other assets. Recommend medium and long-term strategies for rehabilitation and prevention of future occurrences.
In addition, the Committee will liaise with relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) as necessary in the course of its assignment and submit periodic reports to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
Speaking at the inaugural meeting, the Chairman of the Committee, who also doubles as the Deputy Governor, Mani Malam Mummuni, expressed gratitude to the Governor Dauda Lawal, for entrusting them with the responsibility and assured that the Committee will justify the confidence reposed in them.
