GBV activism: Zamfara First Lady, UNICEF distributes Hygiene Kits to students

Zamfara Sate First Lady Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal in collaboration with the United Nation International Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF) distribute 1000 parks of hygiene kits to secondary schools students in the State.

Distributing the items in Gusau the Wife of Zamfara State Governor Hajiya Huriyya Lawal  said "as we continue the 16 Days of Activism Against GBV. This year's theme, “UNiTE to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls,” reminds us of the urgent need to protect our Giles both offline and online. 

"We are gathered here to say NO to violence, NO to abuse and NO to silence”

"As girls, you are the future leaders and change makers of our society. You carry the potential to shape a better world and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that you grow in an environment that is safe, just and supportive”

"In this spirit, my office, in partnership with UNICEF, is  distributing Personal Hygiene Kits to 1,000 students, the gesture is to support you and remind you of your value. Use these kits well, care for yourselves and always remember that you deserve to live confidently and without fear”

“And all you should be mindful of what you post online, as the internet never forgets”

She urged all citizens not keep silent. 

“Huriyya Dauda Lawal Sexual Assault Referral Centre at King Fahad Women and Children Hospital, Samaru, was established to support survivors of GBV”

The Center provided Medical care, legal guidance, and professional counselling a available there to help you. Speak out, seek help and know that you are not alone. Everyone must work together to end GBV, let us encourage one another to report any form of digital harassment or bullying without fear.

Let us stand together and say no to all forms of online abuse. By uniting together can build a brighter future for Zamfara State, one where every girl can learn, grow and thrive in safety.
