Zamfara First Lady tasks residents on effective sanitation

The Wife of Zamfara Governor, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal has encouraged residents to uphold the culture of good sanitation practices of their environment.
A statement by Senior Special Assistant to Governor's Wife on Media and Communication, Hajiya Rabi Yusuf on Sunday in Gusau, said the First Lady made the called during a medical outreach and community health intervention as part of the 2025 16 Days Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. at the Gusau Emir’s Palace.
The event provided essential healthcare services to men, women, and children across the host community.
Huriyya Lawal emphasized that a clean environment was key to prevent disease outbreaks.
She thanked all partners and volunteers for their support and prayed for lasting peace and prosperity to the State.
According the statement her commitment in expanding access to medical care, the outreach featured free screenings, consultations and treatment for common illnesses to include; malaria, typhoid, hypertension, diabetes, and cholera. Beneficiaries also received expert referrals and complimentary medications.
Huriyya stressed that access to healthcare was fundamental right, reiterated on committed initiatives to close healthcare gaps in the underserved communities, and ensuring that every resident, regardless of age or gender, receives quality medical attention.
She commended Governor Dauda Lawal for declaring State of Emergency on Health, a move she described as pivotal to improving health services across the state.
She further appreciated the Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Medical Center, Gusau Chapter, for their professionalism and partnership.

The Statement noted that, Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim, thanked the Governor's Wife for prioritizing the needs of vulnerable groups and for extending the outreach to men as well, prayed for her continued success and for the progress of Zamfara.
