Zamfara: FRSC advocates for laws to punish traffic offenders

The Zamfara Sector Command of Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) has called on Zamfara Government to enact strong traffic laws that would appropriately deal with violators of the traffic laws in the state.
The Sector Commander, Aliyu Ma'aji made called during a stockholders town hall meeting held in Gusau.
Ma'aji said appropriate bylaws needs to be provide by state government to assist FRSC in prosecuting traffic offenders to meet with desired penalties or sanctions of their inactions.
"We needs serious penalty more then a fine or so as case may be even in the eventually of killing lives on the roads.
" Crashes caused huge lost of life and wealth that are sometimes irreplaceable, leading to socioeconomic setback to the society and country in totality ". He said.
He added that strong laws can prevail motorists from reckless behavior that cause crash and fatalities on the roads.
In his presentation, Prof. Ibrahim Garba of Department of Biological Science, Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) said Nigeria loss billion of naira annually from auto crash and that resulted to decline in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country.
He said "all we are responsible of safety on our roads this ranges from the passengers, drivers, vehicles owners, community and religious leaders, FRSC and other security agencies.
Each and every one has a roll to play toward ensuring safety on the roads through advocacy and sensitization among public.
Also speaking the Chief Imam of Wanbai Juma'at Mosque Imam Ibrahim Maimanja said traffic laws were in conformity with teaching of Shari'a in the protection of live and properties from destroying.
The attitude of overloading, speeding, road violation and mix loading were all against teaching of Islam as is subjecting himself to danger.
Islam encouraged protection of live and properties from harmful or destroying through any means that can be prevented.
