Zamfara Govt. commence 2025 16 days activism against GBV

The Zamfara Government in collaboration with development partners have embarked on 2025 16 days campaign activities against Gender Based Violence (GBV)
The coordinated partners for the rally and sensitization activities across the nock and crony of the state include, International Rescue Community, Premium Vanguard International and Reproductive Health Community and Services.
The line up activities to commemorate the 2025 16days were schools outreach, media and stakeholders engagement and walk rally to raise awareness.
In her remarks to flag off the global campaign of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence, the Wife of Zamfara Governor Hajiya Hurriya Lawal calls for unity, action and accountability.
“GBV remains a profound threat to our social wellbeing and development”
“This year’s theme is a powerful reminder that “Digital violence is real violence”
Huriyya Lawal said in this fast growing digital world, phones, devices and social media platforms have become extensions of our lives. Sadly, they have also become tools for harassment, bullying, blackmail, exploitation, cyberstalking and emotional violence.
"Online abuse is not virtual. It causes real pain, real trauma and real harm. "We must protect our people in both physical and digital spaces.
" I stand before you with a deep and unwavering commitment to ensure that women, girls, men, and children are safe, supported, and protected". She said.
She said under the leadership of Governor Dauda Lawal, the administration continue to strengthen social welfare, access to justice, community safety, and health systems, today’s gathering reinforces that commitment.
“The focus of this year was not just awareness but action and priorities include, strengthening the enforcement of laws that protect survivors, supporting access to justice for victims of online and offline abuse, working hand-in-hand with security agencies to protect communities.
“Expanding safe spaces, psychosocial support, and counselling, and promoting digital safety, responsible online behavior, and cybercrime reporting”
“Ending stigma, silence, and harmful cultural practices”
“This fight needs every one to put hand on deck, government, traditional and religious leaders, law enforcement, educators, NGOs, journalists, market women, youth groups, and our media”
“For the youth who were generation of the digital age. Use your voice to uplift not to tear down. Use technology for innovation, not intimidation. Respect is your responsibility online and offline”
"As we officially flag off this year’s 16 Days of Activism, let us remember: A peaceful and progressive Zamfara depends on the safety of our women, our children and our digital spaces”
"Together, we can build a state where no person suffers abuse, where justice is swift, and where every citizen lives without fear"
