Zamfara Govt. partners NAWOJ to advocate of girls child education, women health

The Wife of Zamfara Governor, Hajiya Huriyya Lawal has pledged to partner with Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Zamfara Chapter to take advocacy on girl-child education and women health to communities.
Lawal made the disclosure while declaring a three-day workshop on Gender Equity and Reproductive Safety Reporting, Organized by NAWOJ in collaboration with Norwegian Union of Journalists in Gusau.
“Through my office, the Zamfara Government will continue to collaborate with NAWOJ and other partners in promoting women focused initiatives, especially in the areas of social welfare, healthcare, education and empowerment among others”
“I am pleased to note that Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) program in Zamfara is already yielding positive results,”she added
She said Gov. Lawal’s declaration of state of emergency on education and health sectors had prioritized girl-child education as a foundation for long-term gender equality and sustainable development of girls.
Lawal lauded NAWOJ and the Norwegian Union of Journalists for organizing the workshop.
She believed that the outcomes of the training would further strengthen the capacity of female journalists to practice with fairness, courage and sensitivity to gender issues.
The Governor’s wife, therefore, wishes all participants a fruitful and impactful workshop.
In her remarks, the NAWOJ National Chairperson, Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim said the training was part of the national program being implemented across the country.
“We are indeed delighted that Zamfara is hosting the final edition, it represents a significant milestone in our collective effort to promote professionalism, safety and inclusivity in media practice.
“Your presence in our midst speaks the values about your unwavering commitment to the development and empowerment of women of Zamfara: “We must commend you for that,”Ibrahim said.
Earlier, the NAWOJ State Chairperson, Jamila Kanoma expressed excitement with the opportunity that the workshop would create for the female journalists in the state.
Kanoma urged the participants to utilise the knowledge and bring meaningful impact in promoting the girl-child education and women’s health in the state.
