Skills training key to inmates’ reintegration in Zamfara – Juta

The Controller of Correctional Services, Muhammad Juta, has reiterated the importance of skills acquisition as a vital tool for rehabilitating and reintegrating inmates, in Zamfara State.

This is contained in a statement issued in Gusau by the Spokesperson Correctional Services, Mustapha Abubakar.

said the Controller Stated this during an official tour of the Medium Security Custodial Centre Gusau, and the Nigerian Correctional Officers Wives Association School.

Muhammad juta, said the visit aimed to assess facilities, interact with officers, inmates, and evaluate ongoing rehabilitation and welfare programmes.

“Vocational training and education remain central to our mandate of reform, rehabilitation and reintegration,” Juta said.

Juta urged inmates to embrace skills acquisition programmes, noting that such skills would help them become self-reliant and productive after release.

Juta commended officers at the custodial centre for their dedication, urging sustained professionalism and humane treatment in line with correctional standards.

He expressed satisfaction with the NICOWA School’s learning environment and praised teachers’ commitment to quality education.

The controller acknowledged NICOWA’s role in supporting officers’ families and contributing to educational development within the command.
