Zamfara Govt. setups committee for Anka airstrip projects

The Zamfara State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, has constituted and deployed a technical committee to identify a suitable site for the proposed Anka Airstrip in Anka Local Government Area.

This was contained in a statement by the Ministry Public Relation Officer, Jamilu Bello, issued to the Journalists in Gusau.

According to statement the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Lawal Barau said the ministry in collaboration with the Ministry for Local Government, Ministry of Housing, Zamfara Geographic Information System (ZAGIS), Anka Local Government Council, the Anka Emirate Council, and relevant security agencies, had send a delegation to carried out field assignment.

Bello said the mandate of the technical team deployed to Anka was to conduct comprehensive field inspections, stakeholder consultations, and technical assessments in accordance with established planning, safety, and regulatory standards.

The committee upon completion was expected to recommended a suitable parcel of land designated for the project. The Zamfara  Government remain committed to provide the required land for the airstrip, .

He also said the construction and aviation-related development would be undertaken by the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, subject to due process and statutory approvals.

The committee was chaired by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Haruna Dikko, while field operations was being led by the Director of Civil Engineering, Engineer Amiru Musa Anka, who also serves as the Secretary of the Committee, providing professional leadership and technical expertise throughout the exercise.

This initiative aligns with the commitment of the Zamfara Government under the leadership of Governor Dauda Lawal, to improve connectivity, support security operations, and promote sustainable socio-economic development across the state through strategic infrastructure development.
