FRSC impounds 561 vehicles for carrying excess loads in Zamfara

The Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), has impounded 561 vehicles for carrying  excess loads  from  January 1  to Feb 12, 2026 in Zamfara State.

The Sector Commander, Mr Aliyu Ma’aji made the disclosure in an interview with the truth Newspaper during a special patrol in Gusau the State Capital.

Aliyu Ma'aji noted that, the patrol was aimed at  tackling  overloading among vehicles and trucks.

Ma'ajj Stressed that overloading had become an issue of  national concern.

“The Corps is all out to end the menace through sensitisation and enforcement across the state” Ma'aji added.

“Overloading was responsible for  many auto rashes on the highways,  leading to death and damages”

” In  today’s  patrol ,  over 25 vehicles were  impounded and  only five of these impounded  vehicles  were without overloading offense.” he said.

He  buttressed that  the command would sustained the operation and continued to collaborate with stakeholders on engagement and awareness campaign until the command record zero involvement into the offense of overloading.

“The  indiscriminate use of government plate numbers, expired vehicles particulars and  covering  of  plate numbers are illegal and capable of undermining the security of the state” he said.

One of the drivers , Tasiu Abubakar, who  spoke to the truth Newspaper after payment of their fine,  promised to  abide by the traffic laws to promote safety.

Abubakar said,  “Sometime,  the drivers  are concerned about  passengers,  even though we always  advice them to reduce their  loads.

“With this unexpected  fine paid  and the orientation  by the Corp,  I will desist from   overloading and other traffic offenses.
