ZLGSC CONDUCTS 40 SEMINARS, WORKSHOPS FOR 2,287 STAFFS FROM JAN 2025 - JAN 2026

Zamfara State Local Government Services Commission has recorded 95 percent success in conducting 40 seminars and workshops to the 2,287 staff across the various departments and cadres in the Fourteen Local Government Areas of the State from January 2025 to January 2026.
The Secretary of the Commission Barr. Shafi'u Bukhari Kwatarkwashi made the statement while answering questions from newsmen at his office in the Commission.
Barr. Shafi'u further said that the extensive training programmes were implemented to address key gaps in skills, knowledge, and ethical standards. Officers across the local government system participated in training sessions covering project management in local government councils, civil service rules, regulations, and ethics, basic computer literacy, and emerging trends in human resources management.
He expressed that additional programmes focused on climate change and its impact on agricultural production, project planning and management in the construction industry, information management and public awareness, financial record keeping and accountability, as well as electronic governance. These interventions were carefully designed to reflect contemporary challenges in governance and have contributed significantly to improved efficiency, transparency, and service delivery across local government institutions.
"As the year draws to a close, an objective assessment of public sector performance in Zamfara State reveals a period marked by purposeful reform, institutional strengthening, and renewed confidence in governance at the grassroots level. One of the most notable achievements recorded within the year under review is the steady transformation of the Zamfara State Local Government Service Commission, an institution that plays a critical role in shaping service delivery across the state’s local government councils," Kwatarkwashi explained.
The Secretary also said that the progress is closely linked to the leadership philosophy, reform agenda, and policy support of Governor Dauda Lawal, whose administration has prioritised efficiency, transparency, and human capital development in public service.
According to him the Commission focused on repositioning the local government system as an effective vehicle for development, adding that the commission achieved through deliberate policies aimed at strengthening institutional capacity, improving professionalism and promoting accountability With the strong backing of the state government, the Commission adopted capacity building as a central strategy for reform, recognising that sustainable development at the grassroots level depends largely on the competence and integrity of the workforce entrusted with public responsibilities.
