Kebbi State Governor-elect pledges to make civil service more functional

Kebbi State Governor-elect, Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has pledged to make the civil service more functional with requisite welfare to workers devoid of victimization of any civil servant for political reasons.
Dr. Nasir Idris affirmed this when Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Parastatals and Agencies led by the Acting Head of Service, Alhaji Safiyanu Garba Bena paid him congratulatory visit at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, this Tuesday.
The governor-elect described the civil service as his constituency, saying he has been in the service throughout his working career and knew the problems facing civil servants.
He gave an assurance of fulfilling his promises to civil servants by uplifting their condition of service in view of the enormous challenges confronting workers.
Dr. Nasir Idris remarked that majority of civil servants have shown goodwill to him in the course of his ascension to governorship position but made it clear that he harboured no ill-will towards those who were in the opposition or sat on the fence.
The governor-elect told the Head of Service that he would listen and act on advice from the top echelons of the civil service before taking decisions.
Dr. Nasir Idris indicated the policy thrust of his administration of holding periodic consultative meetings with civil servants aimed at making the service robust and enhancing the working condition and welfare of workers.
The Acting Head of Service, Alhaji Safiyanu Garba Bena informed the governor-elect that Permanent Secretaries and other heads of government agencies were at Government House to congratulate, affirm their loyalty and support to him.
The Head of Service said, Civil Servants as government employees, must be subservient to any incumbent government, affirming their obedience, cooperation and support to the governor-elect.
Alhaji Safiyanu Garba Bena added that heads of Ministries, Agencies, Parastatals and Commissions would brief the governor-elect about the situation in their respective places of work to keep him abreast of the present functions of the civil service.
The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Babale Umar Yauri, described the civil service as the constituency of the governor-elect, saying they were at the Government House to rejoice with him on his election victory.
