Bauchi APC stalwart advocate for 4+4 of 8 years terms in governance for meaningful development
By Abbas Wali, Bauchi
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Stalwart in Bauchi State, Dr. Hassan Halim, has called for leadership continuity in governance after 2027 general elections, insisting that APC must take over to serve for the next 8 years to deliver meaningful development to the test of people in the State.
Dr. Hassan made the call during interactions with political reporters in Bauchi, where he described as poor governance in the State resulting to lack of impactful leadership, which he said has contributed to rising insecurity, unemployment and poverty in the state.
He challenged governorship aspirants within the party to present verifiable records of achievements in their constituencies or previous offices that influenced their interest to run.
“Those seeking leadership must show tangible projects and credible track records, not just looking for cheap popularity and political relevance,” he said.
He took a swipe at politicians who allegedly use financial inducements to manipulate youths during elections, warning that such practices undermine democracy.
The stalwart emphasised that the electorate now holds the power to decide the state’s future based on their experiences with past and present mal-administrations in the State, that crippled economic development and denied civil servants their legitimate rights including that of Senior citizens.
Saying, "I will only support governorship aspirant with credible background, experienced in business and untainted by corruption allegations, young and very energetic person"
According to him, the Aspirant must have history of philanthropy, including scholarships and youth empowerment initiatives, despite not holding public office.
He reiterated that the APC must aim for continuity in governance, stressing that a single four-year tenure would not be sufficient to implement meaningful reforms.
“We need continuity. APC cannot afford to rule for just one term; we must plan for eight years to deliver real change,” he said.
Dr. Hassan Halim, 1st Mai Barno of Dass, concluded by appealing to all APC members, especially party's Excos and those at the grassroots, to rally round Malam Nura Manu Soro, a governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to position the state as a business hub in the North-East region.
