40 ZAMFARA L/GOVT AUDITORS RECIEVE FORENSIC AUDITING TECHNIQUES TRAINING

Zamfara state office of the Auditor General for Local Government in collaboration with Al-Ahl Associates, has conducted a three-day training workshop for 40 Principal Auditors from fourteen local government councils on Basic Techniques in Forensic Auditing.
The training workshop, themed" Principles and basic techniques of forensic auditing and procurement law in Local Government" aimed to provide tools for ensuring accountability and transparency in auditing assignment.
Declaring the workshop open at the Zamfara State Local Government Service Commission multipurpose Hall in Gusau, the State capital, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs, Engr Ahmad Garba Yandi stressed the need and importance of training and retraining of public servants In different areas of specialization. He stressed that the key capacity training goes along with improving socio-economic status of Local Governments and the State at large.
He further said that the workshop is timely and appropriate in enhancing knowledge and equipping participants with methods of engagement especially in the areas of Administration of finance, auditing and procurement.
In his keynote address, the chairman of Al-Ahl Associates Dr. Muhammad Lawal Bawa Maru explained that there won't be accountability without audit, and with accountability transparency is assured. Therefore, this workshop is twofold in trying to bring to light recent trends in forensic audit practice in the public sector which go beyond the normal traditional financial auditing practice.
In his welcome address, the Auditor General of Local Government of Zamfara State, Alh. Aminu Mammaga highlighted the workshop's focus on public transparency and accountability as timely and relevant because forencic auditing plays a vital role in detective products implementation financial irregularities, and addressing financial discrepancies in public efforts, adding that procurement laws ensure that public resources are utilized transparently, and the transparent manner is for the benefit of citizens.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Zamfara State Local Government Service Commission Alhaji Aminu Aliyu Mafara applauded the office of the Auditor General for Local Governments and the Ministry for Local
Governments & Chieftaincy Affairs for Co-ordinator the wonderful educative workshop for their foresight in ensuring that forensic audit practice in the Zamfara State Local Governments is given the highest priority to safeguard the huge
financial resources of the local governments from mismanagement for better service delivery to the local community.
