Zamfara State Police fight with bandits recover 329 rustled cows. sheep's, other dangerous weapons, at Gambanda Forest of Gumi Local Government Area of the State.

In a Press Statement signed by the Spokesperson of Police Command Dsp Yazid Abubakar, issued to the Journalists in Gusau, the State Capital.

According to the Statement, On 20th June 2026, at about 0230hrs, operatives of the VCRU, in collaboration with military personnel, carried out a tactical operation at Gambanda Forest in Gumi Local Government area, 

Statement added that, during the operation, the security team recovered 329 rustled cows, 175 sheep, one AK-47 rifle, and fifteen rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.

“The joint security team engaged armed bandits in a fierce gun duel. The superior firepower and tactical response of the operatives forced the criminals to flee into the forest with possible injuries, successfully repelling the attack” Yazid noted.

Yazid narrated that, The Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Muhammad Bello, psc+, mnips, commended the courage, professionalism, and resilience displayed by the operatives and reiterated the Command's commitment to ending banditry and restoring lasting peace across the State.

“The Command urges members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information that will aid ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements”
